Breeks Memorial Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary school was originally established in the year 1874 in memory of the late J.W. Breeks I.C.S., who was the first Collector of the Nilgiris. Though it was originally meant for children of European and Anglo-Indians, the school at present caters to the needs of children of both sexes whether Europeans,Anglo-Indians or others and belonging to all faiths. This is the pioneering institution in the Nilgiris. This is a school with English Medium and is the only school in Udhagamandalam which caters to the needs of the lower and middle income groups. The results have been consistently good and is one of the leading schools in the Nilgiris .
