St Sebastian Matriculation Higher Secondary School for Boys and Girls is a  co-educational institution run under the Management of Chengalpet Catholic Diocese. Most Rev. Dr. Neethinathan A., the Bishop of Chengalpet is the Chairman of all the Catholic Schools in the Diocese. The Bishop appoints Priests as Correspondents for every school. The following were the Priests who served as Correspondents of  St. Sebastian Matriculation Hr. Sec. School from its inception
Saint Sebastian was born in Milan (Italy). He moved to Rome and became an officer in the imperial guard and a favourite of Diocletion, the Roman Emperor. It is not certain how and when Saint Sebastian became a Christian. It was a time of religious persecution and the Christians were persecuted and put to death for their faith in Christ. The Emperor came to hear of Saint Sebastian’s faith in Jesus and ordered him to be tied to a post and slain by arrows.Saint Sebastian was left for dead, his body was horribly pierced and bleeding, but by virtue of his physical stamina and God’s will, he did not die. A widow whom Catholics call Saint Irene found Saint Sebastian’s body and nursed him until he was well. Saint Sebastian used his recovery to publicly rebuke the Emperor for his cruel treatment of Christians. The Emperor in response, commanded his soldiers to stone Saint Sebastian to death on January 20, 287 A.D., which is now celebrated as his feast day.
